The Argentine international midfielder has fallen out of favour at the Nou Camp under manager Pep Guardiola, and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering a surprise swoop for the player.
Mascherano has struggled to fit into the La Liga leaders' first team following his £22 million move to Catalonia in the summer, and reports in Spain claim that he is considering a move back to England, with Arsenal reportedly ready to provide the player with a new home.
A product of the River Plate youth team, Mascherano made his senior debut for the club in 2003 before signing for Corinthians in 2005. He would make a controversial switch to West Ham United the following season, but rarely featured for the Hammers before his move to Liverpool.
